Risk Assessment Method Statements

What are Risk Assessments ?

A Risk Assessment is a key factor in protecting your employees and your business, in addition to complying with the Law. It identifies risks within your daily work operations and in particular the ones with the potential to cause harm.

A Risk Assessment is simply a careful examination of what, in your work, could have the potential to cause harm to people, so that you can assess whether you have taken enough precautions or should do more to prevent harm in the workplace.

The law does not expect you to eliminate all Risk but YOU are required to protect people so far as is “reasonably practicable”.

A work Method Statement sometimes called a “Safe System of Work” is a document that details the way a work task or process is to be completed. The Method Statement should outline the hazards involved and detail a step by step guide on how to do the job safely, it will also detail which “control measures” are to be introduced to ensure the safety of everyone who is affected by the task or work process.
