IPAF Training Southampton

With over 40 years of operation, GTAccess has accumulated a wealth of experience in training operatives on how to use mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) safely, including boom lifts and cherry pickers, according to the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). To ensure your team has the abilities and information required to reduce risks of injury and accidents on site, anyone who uses a MEWP must complete an IPAF training course and acquire the relevant certification.

GTAccess can provide the required IPAF training in Southampton and ensure your team is prepared for working at height safely. The IPAF PAL card is recognised by all major contracting companies and is given to all who complete an IPAF training course. You can enrol in IPAF training for your Southampton team at our Hailsham depot, with some courses available at weekends and some evenings. Online options also reduce the time needed to be spent at the centre.

Have questions about our IPAF training in Southampton?

There are many different types of MEWPs, including boom lifts, cherry pickers, scissor lifts, forklifts, tracked spider lifts and telehandlers, which you will learn about in your IPAF training course. These machine types can come in both new and used versions.

The length of the IPAF training course will depend on which course you take. Some courses, such as the IPAF Operator training and the IPAF Load/Unload training courses take a full day, starting at 8:00am and finishing at 3:30pm, while other courses such as harness training will finish at around 12:30pm.

While there is no specific legal requirement to have an IPAF certificate and PAL card for working at height, employers should ensure any persons working at height are competent to do so, or are being supervised by a competent individual, as stated by The Work at Height Regulations 2005.

Once you pass your IPAF training in Southampton, you will be awarded a PAL (Powered Access License) card that lasts for five years. However, you may undertake more courses for specific areas, such as managerial responsibilities or harness training.
