DON'T GAMBLE WITH YOUR SAFETY

THE RIGHT SAFETY GEAR FOR WORKING AT HEIGHT

With over 30 years experience with access equipment we understand the important role Personal Protective Equipment plays when working at height.

It's always important that when working with any type of access platform that all operatives wear the appropriate safety gear. Generally for boom type MEWPs a full body harness to EN361 with an adjustable lanyard will be required to provide protection from being catapulted out of the machine in the event of a boom swing, jolt or tilt.

Where appropriate and following a risk assessment, operatives should wear the following:

  • A hard hat (with a chin strap where appropriate)
  • Suitable safety footwear
  • Suitable high visibility vest or jacket
  • Hearing and eye protection
  • Hand protection
  • A full body harness with a restraint lanyard

OPERATOR SAFETY

ANNUAL HARNESS INSPECTIONS

IPAF recommend that all harnesses are inspected by a competent trained inspector on an annual basis to remain compliant.

To get your harness inspected, simply drop it off at your local GTAccess depot and we’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready for collection. We strive to undertake the inspections as quickly as possible, but please allow up to 7 working days. All harnesses that pass the inspection are issued with an electronic certificate confirming compliance.

IPAF HARNESS TRAINING

Having the correct Harness is important but its also vital that users understand how to put the harness on correctly and how to use the harness safely. GTAccess offer a half day IPAF Harness Training course that instructs how to select, inspect and safely use a harness and associated equipment. It is recommended that anyone who is required to use a powered access platform completes Harness training prior to operator training.

Visit our training page for more information on the full range of IPAF accredited courses that we run.
