Do I need a licence to purchase a used scissor lift?

You don’t need a special licence to buy a scissor lift, but you can’t operate it without training and certification. Operating scissor lifts in the UK falls under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, which requires employers to ensure users are properly trained and competent. Sufficient training and certification are provided by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF). Here at GTAccess, we have several training centres across the UK offering IPAF courses and certifications, such as Harness Training, Loading and Unloading and Competent Assessed Person (CAP), among others.

How long do scissor lifts last for?

All lifts, including used scissor lifts, from GTAccess are well maintained and regularly undergo a series of rigorous checks and tests to ensure they meet safety and operational standards. With proper maintenance, there’s no reason a scissor can’t last you many years, depending on usage frequency and the make and model.
